A 13 year-old boy blamed for a crash that killed himself, his dad, six students and their golf coach set his house ablaze shortly before Christmas, a family friend has claimed. The unidentified youngster, killed alongside eight other people in Andrews, Texas, on Tuesday, burned down his family's home after leaving eggs unattended on a stove, family friend Aganetha Siemens said. She is not related to the boy or his dad, Heinrich Siemens, 38. Heinrich was a father of five, with his family part of the Mennonite church. The youngster was driving the family's Dodge truck when it crossed the median onto the wrong side of the road, slamming into a bus carrying eight University of the South West golf students, with six of those golfers and their coach all killed. Aganetha told DailyMail.com: 'I couldn't imagine going through all that and then to have this happen,' she said. 'It's just so sad.' She added that no-one had been hurt in the blaze. Two male students were pulled from the wreckage of Tuesday's crash alive and airlifted to hospital. The NTSB revealed the age of the driver on Thursday, but have yet to identify him. They said that the car the boy was driving suffered a front-left tire blowout, and that that tire was a spare.
Trans swimmer Lia Thomas, 22, blows competition away to win 500 yard freestyle at NCAA championships - but crowd BOOS her and goes wild for second place winner: Thomas says she 'ignores' criticism
Lia Thomas, 22, has become the first transgender athlete to win a NCAA championship with her historic victory in the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday night in Atlanta, Georgia. Thomas's 4:33.24 win pool was greeted quietly, without the usual loud cheers, and on the podium she attracted some boos. The second-placed swimmer's medal ceremony was marked with far-more enthusiastic cheering. Thomas told ESPN moments after that she tried to drown out the controversy surrounding her historic victory. 'I try to ignore it as much as I can, I try to focus on my swimming what I need to do to get ready for my races and I just try to block out everything else'.
'If Lia Thomas wins, there should be an asterisk next to her name': Tennis icon Martina Navratilova blasts trans swimmer as she smashes competition to become first transgender athlete crowned NCAA champion

Thomas hours later became the first ever trans NCAA champion, winning the 500 yard freestyle. 'It's not about excluding transgender women from winning ever,' the 65-year-old said. 'But it is about not allowing them to win when they were not anywhere near winning as men.'

MEGHAN MCCAIN: The media's shameless complicity in censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story is a betrayal of the American public and it is flushing their little bit of remaining credibility down the toilet
MCCAIN: The absolutely stunning journalistic malpractice committed by the media in regard to their coverage of the Hunter Biden laptop story goes far above and beyond anything that we've witnessed to date. It is the most blatant examples of media favoritism that I have ever witnessed and a betrayal of the American public. Why did the media give Hunter a pass? I think the answer is obvious - they wanted his father to win an election. Partisans ignoring bad news is not new. What is new is the media's complicity in the coverups and by doing so they are causing a festering rot between our journalistic institutions and the American public. When I was working in corporate media during the 2020 election, there was a hesitation in pitch meetings to even mention anything to do with Hunter Biden, which was a clear tone and attitude shift from the Trump children. I assure you with all sincerity that the corporate media is Democrat-aligned, and it is an egregious ethical problem.
They're as slow as Joe! Sleepy New York Times FINALLY wakes up and admits Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop IS REAL - one year after DailyMail.com authenticated its contents and broke dozens of stories about his shady dealings
The New York Times has finally admitted Hunter Biden's laptop is real - more than a year after DailyMail.com authenticated its contents with top experts. When files from the laptop were published before the 2020 presidential election, the newspaper cast doubt on its provenance, linked it to Russian disinformation, and made no public attempt to obtain and verify it. But buried 1,200 words into a story this week about a federal probe into the president's son, the Gray Lady admitted to an astonishing U-turn. Reporters referenced emails 'obtained by The New York Times from a cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop', adding that they 'were authenticated by people familiar with them and with the investigation.' DailyMail.com authenticated the laptop a full year earlier, and was the first - and only - news organization to publicly verify its contents using expert analysis.
Voice of doom Dr Fauci warns US could face MORE COVID lockdowns as he admits latest variant set to hit US is less serious than Omicron: 'We can't just say we're done'
Anthony Fauci (left), head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and adviser to President Joe Biden, said easing restrictions, the waning protection from vaccines and the rise of the BA.2 subvariant around the world could bring on another wave of rising infections to the U.S. 'If in fact we do see a turnaround and a resurgence, we have to be able to pivot and go back to any degree of mitigation that is commensurate with what the situation is,' Fauci said in a CNN interview on Thursday. The warning came as COVID restrictions have been lifted all across the country (bottom right) amid a sharp drop in daily cases (top right) after the Omicron surge earlier this year.
'Don't yell, you send the wrong message to your daughter': Eric Adams patronizes parents who politely ask him why he isn't wearing a mask - but IS making under-fives wear them
NYC Mayor Eric Adams chastised a dad who took him to task over ongoing facemask rules for under 5s, saying: 'Don't yell, you'll send the wrong message to your kids.' Adams (left) was filmed scolding the unnamed dad outside the Pig n' Whistle pub in Midtown Manhattan as he celebrated St Patrick's Day in the Big Apple. 'Talk to me, don't yell. You send the wrong message to your daughter,' Adams said, scolding the father. 'I got this. They'll be unmasked.' He did not say when that would happen. The dad, whose initial outburst was not caught on camera, then responded politely to Adams thanking him for answering. Mom of toddlers Maria Kubak (right in yellow jacket) asked a similar question of Adams inside the pub. He responded by telling her that he was a dad too - but didn't mention that the masking rules no longer apply to his 26 year-old son. Adams visit to the pub was marred by multiple parents demanding to know when their young children would be allowed to remove the face coverings they must still wear at school.

'Misogyny is very much alive and well in the media,' Zeiler said in a TikTok post on Thursday as she claimed reporters harped on her despite the fact that she was not the only young woman deployed in the White House's plan. Moment Bostonian teacher, 29, smashes into jagged rocks during 40ft Italian cliff dive but miraculously survives after $20,000 flight back to US hospital and nine hour surgery
Jamie Brotsky (right and inset, at hospital), 29, joined fellow backpackers to jump from high rocks into the sea in the Liguria region of Italy. But she didn't leap out far enough and instead repeatedly smashed into the rock face (left) before plummeting into the water. Ms Brotsky shattered both of her heels and fractured a vertebra in her spine. Doctors spent nine hours battling to save her left foot which 'split' in half. Her family forked out $20,000 to fly her home to Boston, Massachusetts, where her foot turned black due to an infection from the water. It forced surgeons to perform a partial amputation - cutting away parts of her foot - and rebuild it using muscle and skin from her legs. Miraculously, despite being warned she might never walk again, she has made a full recovery. And even did another cliff jump in Hawaii recently. Ms Brotsky said: 'I knew the minute I jumped that I'd made a mistake. I remember looking at my foot and it was completely destroyed. I didn't know if I'd walk again but I vowed to give it my all and try. I felt bless beyond belief to not have been paralysed or dead and this foot is just one reminder of that.'
